On Thursday evening, October 3, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., the Holy Family Co-Cathedral Parish in Kuwait City commemorated the Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi, remembering the moment when the Seraphic Father passed from this life to eternal glory. The celebration brought together all the Franciscan Capuchin priests serving in all Parishes across Kuwait, united in prayer and thanksgiving for the life of their founder.
The evening was lovingly organized by the Ordo Franciscanus Saecularis in Kuwait, or OFS. The celebration included a heartfelt reenactment of the passing of St. Francis, allowing everyone to reflect on his deep faith and peaceful surrender to God. During the Transitus, all the Franciscan Capuchin priests renewed their religious vows, a moving moment that reaffirmed their commitment to live out the Franciscan spirit of simplicity, humility, and service. A concelebrated Holy Mass followed, offered in thanksgiving for the life and legacy of St. Francis of Assisi.
After the Mass, Rev. Fr. Gaspar Fernandez, OFM Capuchin, Parish Priest of the Holy Family Co-Cathedral, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone present, especially to the OFS members who organized the event. He invited the OFS members to come forward before the altar to be recognized for their dedication to living the Franciscan way of life. He also encouraged those who wish to live in simplicity and humility, inspired by St. Francis, to reach out and learn more about the OFS community.
The Transitus celebration remains a meaningful tradition in the Franciscan family, reminding the faithful that in death, life is transformed and not ended. The evening was a beautiful expression of faith, fraternity, and renewal — a true witness to the spirit of St. Francis, whose example continues to inspire hearts to live with peace, simplicity, and complete trust in God.
