Priests of the Order of Capuchin Friars Minor (OFM Cap)
The Order of Capuchin Friars Minor (OFM Cap) is a religious order which seeks to live the Gospel in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. The Capuchin movement began in Italy in the 16th century, and today there are nearly 12,000 friars worldwide. The Capuchins follow the Rule of St Francis according to the Capuchin Constitutions. They are a reform of the Franciscan movement, whose way of life was approved in 1528. The essence of the reform was to recapture the simplicity of the charism of Francis, with a focus on contemplative prayer, penance and smaller communities of 3-12 friars.
