St. Daniel Comboni Parish is located in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, one of the most densely populated areas of Kuwait, home to a large community of expatriate workers from Africa, Asia, and beyond. The parish serves as a spiritual home for thousands of Catholic faithful who seek the sacraments, fellowship, and pastoral care far from their homelands.
The parish is entrusted to the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus (MCCJ), a congregation founded by St. Daniel Comboni in 1867 with a charism rooted in missionary outreach to the most marginalised and the poor. True to that spirit, the community here is marked by its vibrant diversity, joyful liturgies, and strong sense of brotherhood.
Holy Masses are celebrated in multiple languages to serve the multilingual congregation, and the parish actively supports its faithful through pastoral outreach, prayer groups, and community activities. It stands as a witness to the universality of the Catholic Church in the heart of Kuwait.
“I feel what St. Daniel Comboni felt — I want to do something great for God and for souls.”— St. Daniel Comboni, Founder of the Comboni Missionaries
Founding History
On 29th January 2010, our fourth and newest parish was blessed and canonically erected by His Lordship Camillo Ballin, MCCJ, during the concelebrated Mass in the parish church at Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Kuwait. The parish has been dedicated to Saint Daniel Comboni, Bishop and Founder of the Congregation of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus.
As part of the event, Rev. Fr. Albert Saveriraj, OCD, was installed as the first Parish Priest. Rev. Fr. George Chacko and Rev. Fr. Joseph, OCD, formed part of the founding parish team.

The Comboni parish began as a humble mission centre in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh (Abbassiya) on 24th September 2008, on which day St. Daniel Comboni was proclaimed its patron. His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ, Vicar Apostolic of Kuwait, stated: “I chose St. Daniel Comboni as patron because we want this Saint to intercede on our behalf for a church in Abbassiya.”
A special Novena to Saint Daniel Comboni was recited in all parish churches on Thursdays for this particular intercession. Through the intercession of Our Lady of Arabia and all the Saints, may the Lord bless our parish, our bishop, clergy, religious and faithful!
