Brief History

The Rosary Congregation

A congregation founded in Jerusalem for service in the Arab countries, now present in Kuwait through the Fajer Al-Sabah School.

Rosary Congregation emblem

The Rosary Congregation was established in Jerusalem in 1880 by Mother Marie Alphonsine of Jerusalem and Fr. Yousef Tannous of Nazareth, Chancellor of the Latin Patriarchate, with the support of Patriarch Vincent Bracco.

Founded specifically for service in the Arab countries, the congregation began in the Holy Land and gradually grew and prospered. Today the Rosary Sisters serve in Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Rome, Egypt, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

The sisters live according to their constitutions and the three evangelical vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, dedicating themselves completely to God and to the service of the people.

Fajer Al-Sabah School, Jabriya

The Fajer Al-Sabah School is managed by the Rosary Sisters and offers education from Kindergarten up to university entrance level.

Foundation & Early Growth

The Fajer Al-Sabah School was opened in 1961, the year of Kuwait’s Independence, as a private school in Jabriya. It began with 204 students in the Kindergarten and Primary stages.

Thanks to the support of the then Minister of Education, Sheikh Abdullah Jaber Al-Sabah, the school was given a solid foundation to face the challenges of the future.

Expansion & Academic Strength

In 1968, the Intermediate stage was opened, followed by the Secondary stage in 1971. By 2001, the school had a record enrolment of 3,989 students.

The Fajer Al-Sabah School is distinguished by its students and by a dedicated staff. It aims to form responsible citizens who are aware of both their rights and duties, and to prepare young people to be decision makers and a hope for the future.

Spirit, Discipline & Achievements

Each stage of the school has its own administration, but all share a common goal: success and excellence. The school believes that good education is built on good discipline, with a clear code of conduct and an emphasis on religious principles, morals and patriotism.

Students regularly participate in curricular and extra‑curricular competitions organised by the Ministry of Education and the Private Education Administration, and the school has often taken first place in fields such as Qur’an recitation, science, literature, English, arts, sports and music.

The school community gives thanks to God for His blessings and remains deeply grateful to the Ministry of Education and the Private Educational Administration for their ongoing support.
