Prayer Vigil for Peace – St. Thérèse Parish, Salmiya, Kuwait
In humble response to the Holy Father’s urgent call for a Prayer Vigil for Peace amidst the current global unrest, the faithful of St. Thérèse Parish gathered on April 11, 2026, at 6:00 PM for an evening of Adoration and Holy Mass dedicated to the pursuit of harmony.
The solemn Adoration was presided over by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Savio D’Souza, SDB. With a spirit of deep intercession, the assembly joined him in prayer for an immediate end to conflict and hostilities across the Gulf region. Echoing the Holy Father’s plea, Fr. Savio called for the laying down of weapons and the prioritization of dialogue over destruction. He urged the congregation to lift up all world leaders in prayer, asking that they be granted the wisdom to choose diplomacy over the devastating use of force that has led to the loss of innocent lives, the destruction of property, and the displacement of countless families.
This vigil carried a personal weight for our parish community. Having witnessed firsthand the anxiety caused by the sounds of sirens, drones, and missiles in the region, the parishioners stood united in a profound act of faith. It was a poignant reminder that while earthly situations may feel fragile, the Risen Lord is the ultimate source of power, capable of bringing everlasting peace and comfort to a world in need.
Following the Adoration, the Eucharistic Sacrifice for Peace was celebrated, concelebrated by Fr. Savio D’Souza, SDB, and Fr. Jaison Anthikkat, SDB. The atmosphere was one of quiet contemplation and shared hope as we collectively placed our intentions at the foot of the Altar.
During this time of collective reflection, the community also expressed deep gratitude for the safety and security we have enjoyed. We offered special prayers for the people and the defenders of Kuwait, who continue to work tirelessly to ensure the protection and well-being of all who reside within this land.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt prayer to Our Lady of Arabia, our Patroness, beseeching her to intercede for our region. We ask for the gift of peace, the triumph of dialogue, and the clarity of wisdom for all humanity. As we move forward, may our parish continue to be a beacon of hope and a sanctuary for all those who seek the transformative peace of Christ.
