EMHC Annual Thanksgiving Holy Eucharist
St. Thérèse of Child Jesus Parish, Salmiya
On Sunday, 7th June 2026 at 6:30 PM, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ was celebrated at STCJ Parish, Salmiya, where the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion observed their annual Thanksgiving Day with the Liturgy readings and choir was animated by the EMHC brothers.
Assistant Parish priest Rev. Fr. Joe Fernandes, sdb, celebrated the Holy Eucharist.
The Celebration commenced as Anoop Fernandes introduced the significance of the feast, and Fr. Joe warmly welcomed the congregation while expressing gratitude for the ministers’ service during Mass as well as to the sick and homebound parishioners.
During the homily Fr. Joe spoke about the Holy Eucharist, which is central to Christian faith in three ways: as the Eucharistic sacrifice (the Mass itself, Christ’s offering made present), as the Eucharistic sacrament (communion we receive), and as the Blessed Sacrament (Christ’s real presence in the tabernacle). Mass demands full attention: distractions, misplaced devotions, or casual attitudes dishonor Christ’s sacrifice. Receiving communion must be done reverently, recognizing it as the true Body of Christ. In conclusion the Eucharist is the pillar of Christian life, the source of strength, forgiveness, and unity with Christ.
he Holy Eucharist concluded with final blessing prayer to be gathered in faith, that, nourished by the Body and Blood of Lord Jesus Christ, be united in faith, strengthened in hope, active in charity, and sent forth as living witnesses of the Gospel.
The Eucharistic ministers shared the joy of the feast with parishioners by distributing a piece of cake to every individual present.
