Closing of the Holy Door at the Holy Family Co-Cathedral, Kuwait

On Monday, 29 December at 6:30 PM, the Catholic faithful in Kuwait gathered at the Holy Family Co-Cathedral for the solemn Closing of the Holy Door, marking the conclusion of the Jubilee Year. The Holy Mass was presided over by His Lordship Bishop Aldo Berardi, O.SS.T., and concelebrated by fifteen priests, bringing the community together in prayer and thanksgiving.

The celebration opened with a solemn procession, symbolizing the Church’s pilgrimage of faith, and culminated in Bishop Aldo reverently closing the Holy Door. The choir led the congregation in the Jubilee Year theme, filling the cathedral with praise and joy. Parish Council members, ministers, and catechists from all rites took part, reflecting the unity and shared mission of the Church in Kuwait.

In his homily, Bishop Aldo reflected on the mystery of the Incarnation and the enduring message of the Jubilee of Hope. Acknowledging present challenges, he reminded the faithful that hope remains alive because God is with us. He encouraged everyone to live the Gospel through love of God and neighbor and to become bearers of Christ, the true Light.

As the Jubilee Year concluded, the Bishop urged the faithful to carry forward its fruits—conversion, unity, and service—and to continue witnessing to Christ in daily life. The celebration ended with renewed gratitude and commitment, affirming Christ as the center of life and the source of hope.
