Living with the Joy and Hope of Easter
EMHC Outreach Program – St. Thérèse Parish, Salmiya, Kuwait
On April 9, 2026, St. Thérèse Parish in Salmiya hosted a special outreach program titled “Living with the Joy and Hope of Easter.” Led by our parish priests and the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC), this heart-warming initiative was dedicated to bringing spiritual nourishment and Easter comfort to our home-bound, sick, and elderly parishioners who are often unable to attend regular services.
To ensure broad participation, announcements were shared throughout the parish two weeks prior to Holy Week. The EMHC team worked diligently to coordinate logistics, including providing dedicated pick-up and drop-off services to assist those with limited mobility in joining the community for this celebration.
The evening began with a 6:30 PM Holy Eucharist, concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Savio Dsouza, SDB (Parish Priest), and Fr. Joe Fernandes, SDB (Assistant Parish Priest).
In his moving homily, Fr. Savio reflected on the mystery of suffering, noting that it is not merely a problem to be solved, but a journey to be experienced in union with Christ. “Through suffering, we undergo an inner transformation,” he explained. “While physical healing may not always be our path, spiritual growth and strength in God are the ultimate graces. When united with Christ, our suffering becomes redemptive, deepening our faith and enabling us to support others in their own challenges.” He emphasized that the Eucharist remains our greatest source of nourishment, deepening our union with God and one another.
Following the homily, Fr. Savio and Fr. Joe reverently administered the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, offering spiritual healing and profound comfort to those in attendance.
The event concluded on a joyful note as the EMHC team distributed food packets and mementos to all participants as a token of the parish’s love and gratitude. This initiative is part of an ongoing annual commitment by the EMHC of St. Thérèse, who continue to work closely with families each year to ensure that no member of our parish family is left behind.
We thank all the volunteers and families whose dedication made this beautiful celebration of Easter hope possible.
