Sacrament of Confirmation STCJ — April 24–30, 2026

Sacrament of Confirmation – St. Thérèse Parish, Salmiya, Kuwait

“Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit”

On Friday, 24 April 2026, the Sacrament of Confirmation was conferred on 106 candidates from the St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus Parish, Salmiya, Kuwait.

Preparation for Confirmation is a structured spiritual journey at the parish, beginning with two pre-confirmation years leading into the final Confirmation class. A significant milestone during this journey is the “Handing on of the Faith and Bible” ceremony, where parents pledge to guide their children in faith and accompany them in their preparation.

Throughout the year, the candidates deepened their understanding of the Holy Spirit through catechism lessons, along with parent-child orientation sessions that highlighted the gifts and fruits of the Spirit. During Lent, they participated in Holy Mass, practice sessions, and a spiritually enriching retreat led by Rev. Fr. Savio D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Joe Fernandes, and Sam Francis.

As part of their preparation, each candidate created a personal Commitment Card, outlining how they intend to grow in faith and serve the Church and community. The candidates also received the Sacrament of Reconciliation with the support of Rev. Fr. Savio D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Joe Fernandes, Rev. Fr. James Tuscano, Rev. Fr. Derrick Misquitta, and Rev. Fr. Jaison Antikkhat.

The Confirmation Mass was celebrated by H.E Bishop Aldo Berardi, O.SS.T, with Rev. Fr. Nelson Lobo, OFM Cap, Rev. Fr. Reuben Barrameda, Rev. Fr. Savio D’Souza, sdb, and the priests from STCJ parish as concelebrants. The solemn rite included the anointing with Chrism and the laying on of hands, as each candidate received the words, “Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit,” accompanied by the hymn Veni Sancte Spiritus sung by the St. Agnes choir.

Each Confirmand received a Certificate, along with a YouBible, a curated, abridged Bible designed specifically for teens and young adults, and a Rosary as a memento of this special milestone in their spiritual journey.

The Catechism Ministry extends heartfelt gratitude to the various parish ministries namely, the EMHC, Altar Servers, Ushers, Choirs, as well as the Décor, Video, Photography, and Online Projection teams for their generosity, dedication, and selfless service.

We also express sincere appreciation to the dedicated catechism teachers who prepared the candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Through your time, passion, and spiritual guidance, our young people are strengthened in faith, enriched by the Holy Spirit, and inspired to become confident witnesses of Christ.
